PRICELESS wedding rehearsal this evening. A rehearsal for the rehearsal to be a bit more precise, so just three of us: bride, groom and me. Suffice to say that what made it priceless was that every time either of them spoke (or sometimes just me) one or the other (or sometimes just me) would fill up with tears and be rendered unable to go on – which caused giggles, which led to infectious laughter, and more tears … and a sense, for the three of us, that this coming together in marriage – between a lovely young fellow raised in the Christian tradition, and a beautiful young woman raised in both Buddhist and Hindu traditions, is going to be an absolutely glorious occasion and a rich union. Laughter through tears …
There’s hope for our world in the twenty-first century. There really, really is.
